pregnancy update

We're expecting!
And I've been waiting to share.
At first, I was kinda hesitant to share because I liked my privacy of only telling a few people...
But, being that my parents live in a small town, news traveled fast and I felt I needed to "announce" things soon.
Also, I wanted to wait until we're at a *safer* time in pregnancy.
Anyway, we made it through phase one and so here I am happy to announce!

We are very excited and though I have the usual fears of a mother expecting her second child--I do worry about how Kie will adjust to life with a baby.
Luckily, we still have some time before he has to share his momma and daddy with anyone else.
And let me tell you, I've been cherishing every moment I can with my sweet boy.
It does make me sad that my sweet precious cherub (name given to him by his Aunt Allie!) will no longer be the "baby" but this was ALL God's timing. So I can't worry too much.

And yes, I get scared thinking of having TWO under two (for a brief few weeks if that) but I pray that Kie will have a lifelong friend in his sibling.

My brother and I, Carter, are 22 months apart.  There have been times when I have seriously thought of killing him (not really) but regardless, I love my brother more than anything!  He seriously has become one of the greatest people I know and I love the relationship we have now. And he has been through A LOT with me--from giving me advice on dating guys, helping me through bad breakups, finding the right guy (we lived together in college sooooo he knew a lot about the guys I dated!) and he also was so great at telling me when I needed to exercise some and when to change my clothes. HA! So really, I'm excited for Kie to have a sibling so close in age.

Either way, if this new baby is a girl or a boy I definitely know it will ALL be ok!
AND I'm very happy we had Kie first because if it IS a little girl, then I know Kie will protect his little sister from any bad boys in the future.
He's already a sweetheart so I know he'll love the new baby.

As for ME....

Pregnancy has been SO different this go around!
I feel great!
I mean, I had a few weeks of being really sick with morning sickness but I'm out of the first trimester now and I am feeling well.
I think a lot has to do with knowing what to expect.
I mean, I've gotten sick but now it doesn't phase me because not everything is new and scary like it was with Kie.
Plus, I work and have a toddler to raise so there's little time for me to be thinking of *how bad I feel*...
AND pregnancy has gone a lot faster this time--which probably is also because I have a toddler to chase.
Oh and this time, I've started showing earlier...but oh well!
I like having the pregnant belly...and my husband loves it.
He often sticks his own stomach out to mimic.
Anyway, so far so great.

This new baby is expected on HALLOWEEN!
Since it's a c-section--we already know when to expect it.
However, since I was blessed with having Kie 2 weeks earlier--I'm sure this one will come earlier too.
So I'm predicting a bit earlier then the 31st.

ALL I know is that I'll have 3 birthdays VERY close to one another.

My husband's is October 28th, New baby is DUE on October 31st and Kie's is on November 3rd.
THAT makes ONE week of 3 birthdays!

I'll be ONE worn out momma.

Anyway--tonight is TACO night.
One of my favorite meals because it's SO easy....

Throw everything into foil---
chicken, onions and mushrooms --
then TOSS it on the grill!

Of course I add lots of spices...
And to the mushrooms and onions goes a lot of butter.
THE number one thing to make sure tacos turn out great is finding GREAT, homemade tortillas.
And thankfully, living in Austin--great tortillas are easy to come by.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I'll be sharing more on that soon!

The time I let my husband cut my hair...

Yes, you read that correctly.
I let my husband cut my hair.
And no, not a small little trim...
I'm talking about he cut off 14 inches...

Let me explain.
If you know me, you know I am a bit inpatient.
(I am working on it!)
And when I want to do something, or get something done...
I just jump in!
And THEN think later.

It can be a good and bad thing.

Well, if you're here in Texas then you know it's already hot.
And I have LONG hair.
Ok, I HAD LONG HAIR.
And my hair is like a weed y'all!
It grows SO FAST!

And I just had it with my hair.
I mean, I had a love/hate relationship with my hair.

It's super healthy and long...
and I loved it in a long ponytail...and EVERYONE complimented me on my hair.
But at the same time,
it's HOT.
And even when my hair is put up it manages to "ATTACK" Justin in the night.

Justin was getting tired of my hair hitting him in the face,
and not to mention anytime I wanted to kiss, cuddle or just be silly with J, it would be IN THE WAY.

So I started thinking one Sunday how maybe it's time to lose this 3 feet of hair.
Ok, it wasn't three feet....
but it reached my butt.

Well by the time I reached the conclusion to cut it, it was SUNDAY NIGHT.
And what salon is open on a Sunday night?

So I ask Justin--
"Hey babe do you think you could cut my hair?"
The baby was finally down and it was starting to get dark out.
Justin JUMPED at the chance and said "of course."
Then my sweet husband headed out to the beauty supply store and got some scissors.
(I wasn't about to let him use my KITCHEN ones!)
Ha!

While he was out, I washed my hair...
combed it...
and never thought again about what I was getting myself into.

Once home, Justin brought out the bar stool to the backyard
::Now it's really getting dark::
and I put my hair in a low ponytail to show him JUST how much I wanted off....

Before I could say much...
HE CHOPPED OFF MY PONY TAIL!

Snip, snip!
GONE was my hair.
He handed me my super long, limp ponytail.

OH Lord!
What did I let him do?!
He then even out the cut and made sure it was all even--
and that only took a few minutes.

I may add, that BOTH of Justin's parents were stylist.
So my sweet husband thought he could just cut hair because it's in his blood.
Y'all know he's a mechanic?
A man's man.
A jack of ALL trades...
and mainly ones that deal with tools...and power tools...
Not delicate little scissors and women's hair.

But ladies, it wasn't bad.
After an initial freak out,
I realized it was ALL ok.

He actually cut my hair great.
I mean, it's not like a true good stylist could do...but really, he did an amazing job!

There were a few reasons I allowed him to cut it.
First off, yes I WANTED MY HAIR OFF THEN AND NOW.
And obviously I couldnt make an appointment on a Sunday night to get it cut right then!

Second, hair cuts or trims cost a lot.
BUT FOR HAIR like MINE...
wowza....
It would of been SO MUCH.
So I just was like, hey I'm saving money.
And y'all know I have my moments of crazy frugal-ness.

*It happens when you turn into a mom and don't like spending on yourself.

Anyway, here's the BEFORE and after pictures of my hair--mind you, it's wet!
AND THE AFTER pictures. (no makeup y'all!)
Ps, also notice: Messy house--BEFORE and then after (once baby is asleep we CLEAN!)

check out the messy house!
omgosh can't believe I'm showing off my scraggly ends...
an AFTER...
sorry it's blurry

What do y'all think?

Think J could do a 2-for-1 special...
"Get your oil changed and a trim!"
HA
yeeeaaaa right!

Stay tuned yall, more to come soon!

Easter update nearly two weeks late!

I never shared our Easter weekend!
And I'll also catch yall up to speed some...
Seriously, Easter weekend was one of the best!
Friday night we spent it shopping for a last minute Easter outfit for Kie (because the one I had planned was too warm--a sweater vest!) and then we had a relaxing dinner in...take out! (no mess for momma!)
Then Saturday we had one of the BEST Easter egg hunts at our church.

What was so nice is that they sectioned it off by age---so Kie was able to hunt eggs with babies his age.
SO nice, because I was worried about babies getting trampled on.
And wow was Kie on a MISSION!
I didn't think he would care so much about "gathering eggs" but instead he LOVED it.
In fact, I counted and he got more than 40 eggs!
Shouldn't that be a record for a 17 month old?

Kie is like his momma, and OCD--so I think he viewed the eggs as something to pick up....haha!
Also he got to meet the Easter Bunny--and Kie LOVED waving to him and saying Hi! But as soon as Kie got close to him for a picture, well he kinda freaked out! It was hilarious! I mean, I kinda thought the Bunny was a bit unnerving as well. I mean, look at his creepy tilted head and scary over-sized carrot!

Saturday night after we got home, we dyed our very own Easter eggs! It was so much fun because Kie loved putting stickers and decorations on the eggs.

Then Sunday morning the Easter bunny came and left Kie a basket full of goodies..AND A POTTY!
Yep, Kie baby will be potty training soon.
In fact, we have already started getting him accumulated to his new "tee tee spot".

We then all got dressed up and went to church--and the service was so beautiful! Seriously, Easter is about JESUS--not the Egg hunts, the Easter baskets or the Dove Chocolate bunnies....

I love our Church and our wonderful preacher--and man did he delivery Easter Sunday!
We then headed over to our friend's beautiful house in Westlake Hills--for some delicious tacos and drinks on their amazing patio.
We spent a good few hours, eating, talking and enjoying the beautiful day God made!
Kie was the center of attention since he was the only baby there--and he had a blast playing with the puppies outside.

That night Justin and I grilled burgers on our back deck and enjoyed some MUCH needed couple time once Kie went down.
And wow, after a long day playing he was OUT!

Easter was perfect. Such a wonderful, beautiful peaceful time to reflect with our loved ones....

**My family was all in Dallas over the weekend and we weren't able to make it there to see them--so spending it with church friends was the next BEST thing!
Otherwise, I'd of LOVED to been with all my family.

Regardless, the weekend was a blessing!

I have SO many exciting posts to come, stay tuned!

Until next time,
