movie reviews and raves

Daddy J and Kie after their run around Town Lake

Love my two boys
Can't get enough of his baby boy.

Quick update and a few MOVIE reviews:

Hello all,
My house is cleaned, baby is napping and momma has her yummy candles burning....

Ahh, nice HOT day in Austin-Texas.

First off, Memorial Day weekend was this past weekend.  Justin had to work so it wasn't a three day weekend like most people had.
Oh well, such is life!
My husband is the hardest working man I know. Dead serious.  He's a HOSS!

SO last night we were lying in bed and I asked him what were some of the reasons he loved me.  (You know how us girls get, we need some affirmation from time to time....) I swear, if men knew how EASY it is to please a woman---then they'd be surprised.  But hey, diamonds** don't hurt either ;) hehe
**my husband is more of the buy diamonds type then to articulate his feelings. If only he realized I'm a lot cheaper haha!

Anyway he named a lot of funny reasons why he loved me-- but there were two he said that really touched me.

He told me he loved me so much because he always felt love come from me.  He told me how he never felt cared for so much before.

I know I've mentioned before how he lost his father and his mother left him when he was 12.  He was also married before (never had love to begin with in that marriage) --so Justin knowa what it feels to lose love.  Or to feel he never really had it before.   Anyway, it touched my heart a lot to think he DOES feel genuine love from me.
(Sorry don't mean to get mushy) I just adore my man.  I hope I always feel this giddy and lovey dovey.

Anyway--his other reason he mentioned he loved me is because of my strong faith and then he said "I was a good girl."  --Which I corrected him.... I'm merely a sinner SAVED by God's Grace (His son, Jesus Christ.)

It was because of my faith in Christ that lead him to know Jesus as his personal Savior.

It just touched me what he had to say, because he isn't a man that opens up much.  (Obviously since I went asking for it.)  But when he DOES open up--he says some profound things.

Ok, enough of that mushiness ;)

Now for some MOVIE REVIEWS:

(Forgive me if these are old movies you've seen...)
I rent from a kiosk.
I have a baby so I NEVER go to the movies.

So here I go.

The King's Speech.
AMAZING. RENT IT NOW!!
Especially with the Royal Family all in the buzz--this little treasure of a movie will give you some great insight of the family.  I also loved the cinematography, a bit dramatic.

Morning Glory
Justin even liked this one--and he isn't a chick flick kind of guy.
(With Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton and Rachel McAdams)
A cute movie on how working hard and determination (and a love story) can get you where you want to be.  I love Rachel McAdams.  She's a great actress and she's beautiful.  As for Harrison Ford--I adore him--and this was definitely a different character than he usually plays.

 How Do You Know
(Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd, Jack Nicholson and Reese Witherspoon)
I give it....
2 stars out of 5
I wouldn't say it was AWFUL--....but it was a bit SLOW and drawn out.
I say, find something better to do with your time. Unless you need a movie to put you to sleep.
THOUGH I may add--I liked that Reese played a softball player.  I use to be a softballer...so I could relate to that.

 The Way Back
This was actually a really good movie.  I never heard of it before Justin rented it.  It's a "guy" movie but it's based off a true story.  It's a lot of history and I felt as though I learned a lot. I'd definitely recommend it.  Also--I love Ed Harris and Colin Farrell.  Great, great acting.

Country Strong
If you like being depressed--and like cheating spousal stories, then this is your movie.
The music is great SO I'd just get the soundtrack off iTunes.
Otherwise, I wish I would of known how horrible it would of ended and I'd not wasted my time.
I love Tim McGraw and I'm a HUGE country music fan.  But this movie just depressed me.
I guess I'm more of a happy ending, learn a great lesson kind of movie person.

ALRIGHT--that's all my movie reviews. Pretty random--but that's what I've watched in the last two weeks or so and thought I'd share!  Until next time <3

Gotta love those German men...

I say this not only because Dirk is AMAZING and the Mavs are in the Finals....

But my husband is German as well.

free ramble Friday

Hello
HAPPY Friday!
And since it's HAPPY Friday--I decided to make a list of some of the things that make me smile!
First off--waking EVERY morning to my sweet, smiling baby is the best way to wake up!
**this was taken during a brief nap--I never let Kie sleep through the night on his stomach.  He's definitely supervised if he DOES nap on his stomach though!

I also love love love my two boys more than anything...
I LOVE waking up to a CLEAN house.
(picture not included)
I love being OUT on the lake in Austin!!

I love milk.

I love skim milk.  I'm the weird one that will drink it after a workout.  I wake up in the middle of the night (to nurse or check on Kie) and I will grab the carton and take a swig!
(Yes I have lovely manners--and NO, no one else drink the milk in the fridge.)

I also love how Kie is in the great stage of LEARNING things.  Sure he learns everyday, but now that he is mobile he is CONSTANTLY learning.
And so am I!
Case in point, I folded some clothes and went to put them up--
and when I came back Kie had managed to crawl between the couch and the ottoman.
I don't know how he got there so fast...or wedged himself between the two pieces of furniture.
Speaking of laundry, he loves to watch the washing machine and the clothes roll around in a circle.
Also feeding Kie now is like taking a chance with a Venus Fly Trap.  You gotta move quickly and swiftly with the food or it MAY be your finger.  (Luckily he's still toothless).

Another happy thing is I've been CAFFEINE free for over a week.
That means no diet cokes and best of all--NO COFFEE!
My twice (thrice) a week Starbucks run is GONE!
Not only do I have MORE energy from fueling my body properly and more healthy--but I also SAVE on calories and save my money!

I met with a dietician over a week ago to get some help because I was having some massive headaches and thought they were tied to my caffeine addiction love.
Turns out that was part of the problem.  (The rest of it was hormonal--ya for being a woman!)
Anyway--she gave me some huge insight on food and proper fueling of your MIND, BODY and overall spirit.
So for the past week I cut out all processed foods, starches and sugars.  And let me tell you, the first 3-4 days were rough--but now I have MORE energy and feel so great!  Not at all sluggish after only sleeping 4-6 hours.
-----
I also love that baby Kie Pie is learning to kiss me!!
His way of kissing is having his tongue out and kinda just having his mouth open and on my cheek.  But hey, I'll take it!!
Lil Man is growing up so fast and it makes me sad.  But I love to see his personality show more and more.

By far his favorite things to do is still be held by me--
and playing with his DaDa (btw why are these the FIRST syllables babies say?!
totally not fair!)  He does say "DA DA" but it's a string of "da da da da da's"

Also with this May passing us by and graduation season it makes me reminisce about my days at the BEST University of TEXAS!!!

I love that I'm a PROUD Alumnae of UT.
I'm also grateful that I finished school!!
I still wouldn't mind getting my master's.  But I think that is something I'd save to do once my babies are in grade school.

My mom got her Master's while I was growing up and I remember attending her graduation  I think I was in the 3rd or 4th grade.  Anyway, I know if my mom can do it while working AND with three kids, then I could strive for that as well!
(A PHD would be even better! I've always like the sound of Dr. Halley haha)

I just really want Kie to be proud of his mother and know that I did TRY to do my best.
It's funny how becoming a mother makes you want to be the BEST possible person you can be.
I definitely fall on my face...
But God knows NOW I turn to Him--which is the biggest improvement anyone could make.

ALSO I thought I'd share my little paint project I did a few weeks back.  It's nothing big but just a little splash of color in a spare bathroom.

I actually should show the other paint job I did on our breakfast area....
I'll post it next time.  Blogger never wants to cooperate with me--and I haven't the patience for it.

So what's everyone's Memorial Day plans?  Justin is working on Monday so it's really a normal weekend for us.

Maybe spend some more time on the water---and we got some shopping to do! We haven't been to COSTCO in awhile (love that place) and we need some things for the beach vacay-new beach chairs, some tents and floaties.

And Justin is taking his scuba gear to Florida....
I'm hoping that I get certified soon!
That's one of my other countless goals.

Ahhh Kie just threw up on the desk. Guess that's my que to go.... ;)

Until next time,

nap time news

I shouldn't be blogging right now (though little man is napping.)

Really I should be cleaning house, doing laundry, paying bills, writing some letters, sending our checks... or working out.
I mean, I have six weeks till we're lounging at the beach!

LIFE is good.
It is HOT here in Austin-Texas--which means we've been finding ways to cool down.
Kie had his first swim time in a pool this past Sunday.  It was so much fun!
There's a new YMCA at Oakhill and we took Kie for some fun OUT of the sun.
He loved the water and enjoying splashing it all in my face.

Also we spent another Saturday on the water.  By far my favorite thing to do in our lovely city.
My best friend, Caitlin, was in town so it was double the fun!

Not much for me to say--this heat and my LONG to do list are zapping me of my creative juice.
Maybe I'll get around to showing off my new paint jobs I've done around the house.
Oh and my next 4 weeks of BOOT camp starts next week. This was my off week.
I'm still a long way from having a six pack but I definitely enjoy feeling old muscles working again....(I just need to remind me of this when I'm waking at 5am to workout).  Enough rambles...

Enjoy the pictures!

BTW--have I mentioned how....
I'M SO READY FOR THE BEACH!?!?!

Crazy crawling and catch ups

It's been awhile! But I'm still here.  A very quick update then the rest will be pictures!
Life has been hectic but good.
We had our garage sale last week--sold pretty much most of our nice things for 25 cents! So if you got to come by then it was a steal!

We made nearly $500!  (1/3 Part of it was saved, 1/3 donated to a charitable cause and 1/3 to bills.)

Now, will I do another garage sale?
I don't know...It was a lot of work.  BUT I must say--I could not of done it without the help from my great, GREAT friends--Amanda and Warren!  And of course Justin!

Also my parents came in that weekend to watch Kie.  --Which turned out to be a blessed weekend.
Mother's Day was a wonderful blessing because I spent it with my Mother and as a mother!
We went to church and had lunch--and spent the rest of the day watching movies!

As for life--it's been going great.  God reminds me of my blessings daily and humbles me to remember to turn to Him always.

I've also been great about attending boot camp this past week.  I haven't seen a difference on the scale but I do feel a lot more in shape.  I actually feel muscles again!

My exciting NEWS for today is....DUN DUN DUN!!!

Kie went out on the LAKE for the first time!

I love that we have a boat and live so close to so many beautiful lakes.  And one of the things I dreamed about when I was pregnant was spending family time on the water.

So we went out on the water early to see if Lil Man liked it.  And he did!  So we spent all of the day out on Lake Austin.

Justin is an amazing wakeboarder so he worked on this seasons new moves and Carter joined in on the fun.

It was a great day on the water.

Also--like I had mentioned before Kie has been trained to sleep and nap.  He's done great until he realized he can crawl in his bed.  So now he will roll over and crawl until he gets in the corner of his crib and then gets very mad.  I then go in there to scoot him out of his corner and place him on his back in the middle of the bed.

Ah, that baby! He also likes to crawl under the sofa and get random appendages stuck under the couch.  He's only 6 months!  But, he's also a boy and I can tell I'll have my hands full with this adventurous little man.  He's just like his father.

Ok--enough talk, here's some pictures of the past week!

Until next time!
